Coming in hot with their most aggressive, yet upbeat single to date. Floatgoat reminds listeners not to mess with musicians or they may end up writing a song about you. Written about an individual who was at one point very close to the band, “Lies & Deceit” takes the listener on a journey through floatgoat history with lyrics written in retaliation. Over two years in the making the band has concluded the final version featuring a major chord progression of smooth synths, funky fresh guitar & bass, all capped off with silky vocals by Kaitlyn McDaniel. If one were to make any bold false statements to a Floatgoat around your town, or near any cliff like features, caution is heavily advised.
Story Behind The Music:
The songwriting process behind Floatgoat’s latest single, “Lies & Deceit” ties directly to an individual who used to be very close to the band. The tune serves as a reminder never to piss-off any musicians, as they may end up writing a song about you. This particular individual made a plethora of ludicrous claims about the band. Including a particularly laughable case that the band was riding their coattails, when in reality this particular ‘fill-in’ individual had zero ‘down-beats’ of success in the music industry to be so arrogant. Over two years in the making, the band had to make sure the song was perfect. Thusly, they needed the perfect sounding female vocalist to fill a missing void. Kaitlyn McDaniel was heard by bassist Arias Goldanloo at a performance at DIME Denver before the institution was shut down due to Covid-19, and the severed partnership between DIME and Metropolitan State University of Denver. He knew Kaitlyn’s soft (some might say Halsey like) vocals were perfect for the sound of “Lies & Deceit”. Arias, Kaitlyn, and guitarist Gavi Torres recorded all parts for this tune at DIME Denver, and Arias fully produced, mixed, and mastered the tune in his basement. In a dynamic era of music evolution, Floatgoat has stepped into the world of ‘bedroom-pop’ with their new tune, “Lies & Deceit” while staying true to their roots in computer based electro-funk music.
